    ITINERARY

    JANUARY 25- BOLOGNA

    Bologna is the home of our sponsors, Carpigiani and Fabbri, and is the center for the best food and gelato in Italy.

  • Arrive in Bologna and travel by private bus to the historical district.

  • Enjoy a fabulous lunch at the world-famous Tamburini, a gourmet Mecca of Italian delicacies, and gelato tasting at La Sorbetteria

  • Travel by private bus to Rimini for the S.I.G.E.P. fair


    JANUARY 25-28- TWO DAYS- RIMINI- (THREE NIGHTS)

    Rimini is Italy’s principal summer resort on the Adriatic Coast. Unfortunately, we will be there in January! But forget all of that because Rimini is where the best gelato convention in the world is held every year. The S.I.G.E.P. convention will open your eyes to a world of gelato possibilities.

  • For 2.5 days, you will attend the S.I.G.E.P. Gelato convention and take part in special workshops working with Fabbri and Carpigiani experts to create gelato and espresso specialty drinks.

  • On Saturday evening, you will be a guest of Carpigiani for a festive and special dinner.

  • Last night in Rimini, you will be a guest at Fabbri's gala dinner joining Fabbri worldwide employees and guests. It is a dinner not to be missed!

  • After a half day at the S.I.G.E.P. fair on Monday, we will leave by private tour bus heading south to Naples with stops along the way.


  • JANUARY 28- ORVIETO- ONE DAY (ONE NIGHT)

    Central Italy’s quiet valleys belie the treasures in its hilltop town of Orvieto with its glittering cathedrals, wineries, and of course, gelato.

  • Visit Deruta, known for its ceramics since the 16th century.

  • Visit Orvieto, one of the most dramatically sited hill towns in Italy, reachable only by cable car, to taste great Italian white wine in its wine shops, and visit the Duomo, which is considered one of the most dazzling in all of Italy.

  • Stay in Orvieto at the Hotel Palazzo Piccolomni totally restored to its original architecture.


    JANUARY 29-30- CAPRI, SORRENTO, AMALFI COAST-THREE DAYS (THREE NIGHTS)

    Campania is a region of evocative names— Pompeii, Naples, Capri and Sorrento— that conjures up visions of cliff-shaded coves, sun-draped waters, and mighty ruins.

  • Stay at a seaside hotel in Sorrento, as our base to this area.

  • Take a boat to Capri, Italy’s most glamorous seaside getaway, for a wonderful day of leisure, gelato-hopping, and fabulous shopping.

  • Take a private tour of Pompeii on the way to Naples.


  • JANUARY 31-FEBRUARY 1- ROME- ONE DAY (ONE NIGHT)

    Yes, there are other beautiful places in the world, but there is only one Rome.

  • Take a guided tour to many of the historical sights— A lot to see in one day, but we will do it.

  • Visit one of the best gelaterias in Italy, the fabulous Giolitti.

  • Be our guest for a farewell dinner and spectacular view of Rome at night from a mountain top overlooking the city.
  • Fly back to USA morning of Saturday, February 2, 2008- Rome/Paris to NY.
